Branch: Whitley County Family
On June 28, 1997 my son, Trent Michael Mowrey, was killed on his motorcycle. I found myself afraid of depending on drugs or alcohol after work to keep from thinking of my loss. Instead I joined the YMCA and started doing water aerobics. It was great therapy for me. No drugs or alcohol to get me through my days. My attending class turned into a part-time job for 15 years teaching water aerobics, teaching swimming lessons and being part of the YMCA swim team. My job at the YMCA was a godsend for me and my family and I’m sure Trent was smiling down on me from heaven that I had chosen the path to the Y instead of another direction.
The Y family at Whitley County holds a very special place in my heart. Thank you to all of my friend at our Y ~ Erica, Kameron and the members, what a great gift you have been for me.
